Start with a real hand: Prima 1

Prima 1 is the worked example across our lessons. Choose a task, check its interfaces and download your first experiment brief. Referenced research keeps its original hardware and scope.

Learning & Control

Explore how a dexterous hand perceives, predicts and acts. Choose a research direction.

New to robot learning? Learn the hand, understand its controller, then define a test before choosing a model.

Data & retargeting

Make observations usable by a hand.

Retargeting maps motion between embodiments. A usable training pipeline also needs synchronized observations, explicit robot actions, coordinate frames, control rates and dataset permissions.

Start with: Hand kinematics, joint naming, laterality and coordinate frames.

  1. InputHuman motion or robot demonstrations
  2. MethodRetargeting + alignment + validation
  3. OutputEmbodiment-specific training episodes

More human video does not automatically provide valid robot action labels.

How to evaluate it

Fingertip/pose error, joint-limit violations, timing alignment and usefulness for the downstream task.

A first experiment to try

Check a single pinch sequence against the target hand model. Record joint limits, left/right mapping and fingertip error before collecting a larger dataset.
